“Costa Rica ranked fifth worldwide in environmental performance”
Costa Rica is the fifth country in environmental performance, as published by Forbes, only surpassed by Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Finland. This is the result of the Environmental Performance Study conducted by scientists from the Universities of Columbia and Yale in 149 countries. The Study analyzed environmental health, water and air quality, biodiversity, natural resources and climate change.
According to Forbes, Costa Rican economy is based on a robust eco-tourism industry benefited by governmental and private actions taken to protect biodiversity.
