April 19th 2010 - “Assa is the 5th insurance company to arrive to Costa Rica"
Assa Insurance company became the 5th company to enter the Insurance record of Costa Rica, after receiving approval of the country's insurance superintendency (Sugese) this past April 13th. The company, owned by Grupo Assa of Panama, has license to sell general and personal insurance policies, being the first insurance private company to have this license.

April 17th 2010 - “The largest wind farm in the country opened in Bagaces"
The largest wind farm installed in Costa Rica opened on April 17th, 2010, with a capacity to supply an estimated 70 000 households per year. The Plata Eolica Guanacaste (PEG), located in Bagaces, Guanacaste, belongs to a consortium comprised by three companies: GDF SUEZ Energy Central America, subsidiary of the Franco Belgian group GDF SUEZ ,Juwi, the German renewable energy developer, and Proyectos y Construcciones BC y Asociados S.A., a Costa Rican construction company.

January 18th, 2010 - “Bank Secrecy"
The progress report issued by the OECD on April 2 de 2009, following the G20 London Summit, surprisingly included Costa Rica as one of the jurisdictions that has not committed to implement the internationally agreed tax standard. The standard requires exchange of information on request in all tax matters for the administration and enforcement of domestic tax law without regard to bank secrecy.

March 2009 - “Notification Act in force”
This innovative Act comprises important and innovative topics such as provisions to ensure handicapped are able to understand the documents served to them and the possibility of serving parties through electronic and computer devices. Additionally, some notification methods foreseen by the previous law have been further regulated. Hence, it is still possible to give notice to parties by means of a Notary Public, through electronic devices such as fax among others.

December 2008 - “School salary Promotion Law for the Private Sector”
