- Has a great experience in drafting and reviewing banking contracts, such as loan agreements, syndicated loans, trust agreements, mortgages, pledges, and leasings, among others. He has participated in banking and real estate transactions with many local banks. Also, he has represented over 15 foreign banks and financial institutions, in different legal matters in Costa Rica.
- Has a lot of experience in drafting legal opinions and conducting legal researches in banking law or corporate law issues.
- For over 7 years, he worked as an Advisor in Costa Rica’s Congress (Asamblea Legislativa). In 1998 he served as Advisor to Costa Rica’s Congress President. During his work as Congress Advisor, he was directly involved in the discussion and drafting of important changes in financial laws, anti - money laundering regulations, anti-corruption laws and tax reforms, among others. For such purposes, he was deeply in contact with Costa Rica’s financial regulation authorities. At the same time, he participated in the debates held in Congress regarding the approval of CAFTA (Unites States - Central America Free Trade Agreement).
- Prior to his work in Costa Rica’s Congress, he worked with the United Nations Program for Development (UNDP), as a Consultant Attorney. There, he collaborated in designing a procedure to guarantee that the international agreements and contracts signed by UNDP and the Costa Rican Government received the duly authorization from Costa Rica’s General Comptroller (Contraloría General de de la República).
- Has experience in the academic field. He worked as Head Director of the Postgraduate Studies Center (Centro de Estudios de Postgrado) in Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, one of the largest universities in Costa Rica. During his administration, he designed an integral reform on the MBA’s study plan and he actively participated in the reforms carried out in the Economy PhD study plan, one of the few PhD careers given by a Costa Rican university.
